2008 TLA Book Cart Drill Team
I have chosen this You Tube video and hope that you might find it funny too! I am a teacher-librarian when I am not golfing, playing tennis or going to the beach. I think we TL's are people who love to have a good time but I have never heard of Book Cart Drill Teams until tonight! It is rather hilarious and I will be watching the next time I go into Burlington Public Library to see if Betty and the librarians are preparing for the competition next year at ALA! Watch out as the TL's out there might be fierce competition! OK!! Back to Betty's questions. I enjoyed looking at several You Tube videos. You could get lost in there! While some were simply for enjoyment and entertainment, others like the one I found on "Copyright" would be a great teaching tool for next year especially with older students where this is becoming a very big issue. I am wondering about that copyright thing...hmm...how does that work with You Tube and simply uploading videos to blogs? Interesting! Also You Tube is like many websites as you are not always quite sure what you might get when you click. I wonder about that and younger students?? I think it's popular because it provides something for everyone, is easily accessible, can be informative or just plain entertaining.

Super good question about copyright. This was one of the main issues associated with that huge writer's strike earlier this year--writers getting upset because much of their material was being uploaded onto the web without due credit.
Somethign to consider, for sure...
Hi Happy Camper! Yes we could spice up OLA with a little routine! Could be the start of something big like Dewi Devas! Hi also to Library Lady! Yes, I can see where the copyright issue could be financially a concern for writers and I now recall this discussion. I wonder how something so fluid like You Tube could be controlled?
Speaking of OLA--I'll be there this year presenting a session on this very class!
Perhaps I'll see you there? My book cart will be the one with THIS bumper sticker...
Have you seen the Burlington Public Library video on Youtube? Our pages did a very short 'bookcart' line. I was at the ALA conference this year and saw the bookcart drill competition. My face hurt from laughing! Were you at OLA a few years ago when we had bookcart races Friday evening? I was the referee! A library staff member!
